Former Cross River PDP campaign DG dumps party for APC

A Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain in Cross River, Mr Asuquo Ada, has defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Ada’s defection followed several other defections that have hit the opposition party in the state in recent times.

Ada told newsmen in Calabar on Friday that he had decided to move on with his political career in APC which rules at the state and Federal levels.

Ada, a campaign Director-General to one of the PDP governorship aspirants in the 2023 general elections, had earlier announced his resignation from the PDP through a letter.

The letter, dated October 23, was addressed to the Enong Ward leadership of the party.

“I find conviction finally to resolve in favour of my embattled decision to resign membership of the Peoples Democratic Party as situations have so demand’’, Ada said.

“It’s indeed a fact that change remains a constant situation that affects life situations when nature directs changes to life narratives.

“I have no choice than to wish the party well while I dedicate my further political sojourn to the Almighty God’s directive”, Ada said in the letter.

He was an ally of Gershom Bassey, a 2023 governorship aspirant of the PDP and a former Senator who represented Cross River South at the National Assembly between 2015 and 2023.

The former Senator was a founding member of the PDP in Cross River.
