I thought l’ll die – Ufuoma McDermott opens up on battle with kidney disease

Nollywood actress, Ufuoma McDermott has opened up on her battle with Kidney disease.

Ufuoma, in an interview with media personality, Chude Jideonwo, revealed that she has been battling the disease for 12 years.

According to the 43-year-old, she was diagnosed with stage three but it later progressed to stage four.

She added that she thought she will die because she failed to listen to the advice of her doctors.

“My weight, people do not understand when I say I cannot afford to put on weight, I do not want to die. I have little children. I had pushed my body and it was borderline stage 4.

“Last year was a very trying time in my life where I thought I was going to die. I have battled chronic kidney for a while, for about 12 years now. I was negotiating with the doctor, she said ‘I need you to go home and rest’.

“But I was like ‘What if I go home? I promise you I will sleep today, before I leave tomorrow’. She said, ‘Ufuoma I need you to sleep now, if you can take tabs and just sleep. I need you to rest, I need your blood pressure to drop.’

“She mixed up my medications for me, long and short is that I went back on set.”
