One dies, 29 injured in auto crash

No fewer than 30  members of the  Knight of the Catholic Church on board the Coastal bus belonging to the Cross River State college of nursing, Ogoja have been involved in an accident. 

The accident left 70-year-old  Elliot Ushie Agana from Ogoja dead and 29 others injured. 
The accident occurred along UNIZIK Temporary Site Junction Awka. 

It was gathered the coaster bus with members of Knight of the Catholic Church, left Ogoja, in Cross Rivers State for Abatete, Idemili North council area of Anambra State for the burial ceremony of one of their members Dr. Ezigbo Sunny. 

One of the survivors, Pastor Christian Ikere, explained they noticed the coaster Bus was having brake problems while leaving Ogoja for Anambra and despite pleas to the driver to work on it, he turned deaf ears. 

Another passenger in one of the coasters Mr Chidiebere Chukwu said one of the three coaster buses lost control and was waving at other vehicles to clear the road to avoid accident.

But on getting to UNIZIK junction, it hit an inter-city commercial vehicle loading along the road, causing the accident.

While remains of the deceased have been deposited in a morgue, the 29 injured passengers were receiving treatment at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Amaku, Awka.
