E-money: Spraying naira, foreign currencies at parties unlawful

Businessman E-Money has urged Nigerians to respect the Naira and avoid spraying it at parties or events, citing the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s (EFCC) directive against currency abuse.

Instead, he advised celebrants to place gifts in a basket, bowl or box in front of the person being honoured.

E-Money, on Instagram, emphasised that ignorance of the law will no longer be an excuse, encouraging people to celebrate responsibly and avoid fines.

He wrote: “Attention! The EFCC reminds us that spraying Naira (or any currency) at parties or events is against the law! Let’s celebrate responsibly and avoid fines. Respect our currency!

“If you must give money at a party, make sure you put it in a basket, bowl, or box in front of the person at the party. Don’t drop any currency on the floor. The EFCC advises against this. Ignorance is not going to be an excuse. Let us be aware and abide by the rules since it’s the law of the land”.

This call comes after his own recent experience with the EFCC, where he was arrested for alleged Naira abuse and dollar spraying at an event.
