AY Makun defends 2baba over apology video

Comedian AY Makun has come to the defense of a fellow celebrity, 2baba, following his public apology to his lover and fans.

Recall that 2baba had earlier commented about men not being wired for monogamy, but later apologised to his partner, kids, and fans.

AY Makun urged people to consider the human side of public figures, noting that men are often raised to suppress their emotions and are blamed or misunderstood when they speak out.

He described the situation as a complex issue, highlighting the importance of empathy and understanding.

In his defense, AY Makun emphasised the societal expectations placed on men, stating that they are often told to “man up” and suffer in silence.

He said: “It’s always easy to cast the first stone at the supposed offender. No one pauses to ask him the most human question “Are you okay?” And when they do, it’s rarely without an agenda. No one really cares.

“I just saw a man under duress taking accountability for his actions. Not because he’s perfect, but because he’s human. As men, we’re raised to suffer in silence. Whether we’re right or wrong, we’re told to “man up.” Even when we finally speak, it rarely ends well. We’re blamed. Misunderstood. Dismissed.

“Our vulnerability doesn’t protect us. it exposes us. Na who them catch na him be thief.”

He captioned it: “The things that truly matter in society often go unnoticed. I believe the government should start awarding entertainers with special bonuses for consistently helping to shift Nigerians’ focus away from issues that don’t contribute to their growth. Make una continue to pay attention to people wey don personally hustle to settle themselves. Dey play!”
