Legendary British heavy metal singer and reality TV personality Ozzy Osbourne has died at 76.

He died weeks after performing alongside his Black Sabbath bandmates in a farewell concert for fans.

The family of the late rock and roll legend confirmed his death in a statement released on Tuesday. However, the reason for his death was not revealed.

“It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning,” the statement read. “He was with his family and surrounded by love.”

The British Black Sabbath icon was born in Birmingham, England, on December 3, 1948. He rose to global fame in the 1970s as the lead singer of Black Sabbath, a band known for its dark and powerful sound that helped create the heavy metal genre.

Following his departure from the group in 1979, Osbourne launched a successful solo career, delivering hits like Crazy Train, Mr. Crowley, and Bark at the Moon.

Throughout his career, Osbourne received numerous accolades. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Black Sabbath in 2006, received a Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance, and earned the Global Icon Award at the MTV Europe Music Awards.

In 2015, he was also honoured with the Ivor Novello Award for Lifetime Achievement by the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers, and Authors.

He is survived by Sharon, his wife of over four decades, their children Aimee, Kelly, and Jack, and his children Jessica and Louis from a previous marriage.

Over the years, Ozzy battled addiction and faced several health challenges, including Parkinson’s disease and injuries from accidents, yet he was resilient and still pursued his career.
