COBA goes international, holds national dog competition, annual awards

Canine Owners and Breeders Association (COBA), the official Kennel Club affiliated with FCI has held the COBA National Dog Championship (CNDC) 2025.

It is the 5th in the series of national dog shows by COBA and first international show after COBA’s official recognition by the Fédération Cynologique Internationale (FCI).

The event which brought together breeders all around the country , partners and stakeholders in promotion of global standards in dog breeding also witnessed a dinner and award presentation.

According to the Secretary General , COBA, Omoniyi Ewete, CNDC 2025 showcased the best of dogs bred in Nigeria to the world, in attendance were contestants from the neighbouring countries – Ghana and Togo.

The Winner (Best in Show) was Casper Lardowik owned by Super Quality Kennel.

“When COBA began some years ago, it was just a dream. A bold aspiration held by those who believed that Nigeria could stand strong in the global cynological space.

“Today, that dream has grown wings. COBA is now a global force, a testament to the excellence, determination, and ingenuity of the Nigerian spirit,” Ewete said.

It would be recalled that earlier in the year, the Canine Owners and Breeders Association (COBA) of Nigeria achieved a contract partner status and official recognition from the Fédération Cynologique Internationale (FCI), the world’s leading canine organization.

The accreditation secured is a significant milestone for the Nigerian canine industry.
