Fubara Dissolves Rivers Cabinet, Appoints New Chief Press Secretary

Governor Fubara dissolves Rivers cabinet, directs commissioners to hand over to permanent secretaries immediately.

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has dissolved his entire cabinet with immediate effect and directed all political appointees to hand over to senior civil servants in their respective ministries.

The decision was announced Thursday evening in a statement signed by the governor’s newly appointed Chief Press Secretary, Onwuka Nzeshi.

According to the statement, all Commissioners and Special Advisers are to formally hand over their responsibilities to Permanent Secretaries or the most senior officers in their ministries pending further directives.

Governor Fubara expressed appreciation to the outgoing officials for what he described as their “immense contributions” to the state and his administration. He wished them well in their future endeavours and thanked them for their roles in governance.

The cabinet dissolution comes days after the governor held a closed-door meeting in Abuja with President Bola Tinubu and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, over the lingering political crisis in Rivers State.
