A mild drama unfolded at a Senate Committee oversight meeting as the Senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, reportedly engaged in a heated exchange of words with a serving Minister over the poor execution of projects in her constituency.
The tension reportedly started when the Senator asked tough questions regarding the utilization of funds allocated for the Ajaokuta Steel revival and other key infrastructure in Kogi State. The Minister’s dismissal of her questions as “undue interference” did not sit well with the lawmaker.
Visibly angered by the attempt to brush her aside, Senator Natasha stood her ground, warning that she would not tolerate disrespect from any appointee of the executive.
”You cannot disrespect me in this committee. I represent a people. I am an elected Senator, and I demand answers. You are an appointee, and you are accountable to Nigerians,” she reportedly stated before threatening to leave the session if proper answers were not provided.
This incident adds to the growing reputation of Senator Natasha as a “firebrand” lawmaker who is not afraid to confront powerful figures. She has previously clashed with Senate leadership over seating arrangements and the alleged lopsidedness in committee appointments.
Supporters have taken to social media to commend her courage, describing her as the “Lioness of the Senate” who refuses to be silenced by the “Abuja politicians”
