Kwankwaso Condemns Maiduguri Bombings, Urges Tinubu To Step Up Anti-Terror Fight

Kwankwaso decries deadly Maiduguri bombings, calls for urgent action and stronger support for troops battling insurgency in Nigeria.

Former Governor of Kano State, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has condemned the recent multiple suicide bombings in Maiduguri, Borno State, which left 23 people dead and more than 100 others injured.

In a statement posted on his verified X account, Kwankwaso described the attacks as horrific and a major setback to peace and stability in the North-east and the country at large.

“I am deeply saddened by the horrific multiple suicide bombings in Maiduguri… which claimed the lives of 23 innocent people and injured over 100 others,” he said.

The former Minister of Defence warned that the attacks signal a troubling resurgence of terrorism in the region, despite years of relative calm.

“These latest attacks… signal a disturbing resurgence of senseless terrorism that threatens the peace our communities have struggled so hard to rebuild. This cannot be tolerated,” he added.

Kwankwaso, who is also the National Leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), urged President Bola Tinubu and all levels of government to intensify efforts to combat insurgency.

“Now is not the time for defensiveness or complacency. Our gallant armed forces must be fully empowered to take decisive, proactive action,” he said.

He stressed the need for the federal and state governments to provide adequate resources and support to security agencies to ensure the total defeat of terrorist groups.

“The Federal and State governments must leave no stone unturned in providing all necessary resources to enable our troops to decisively defeat these terrorist networks,” he stated.

Kwankwaso also expressed sympathy for the victims and their families, extending condolences to the government and people of Borno State.

“My heart goes out to the bereaved families, the injured, and all the people of Borno State during this difficult time,” he said.

He called for urgent and coordinated action to restore security and prevent further attacks across the region.
