NUJ FCT Chairman Felicitates Christians at Easter, Urges Unity, Sacrifice

The Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Council, Comrade Grace Ike, has felicitated with Christian faithful in the FCT and across Nigeria on the occasion of Easter, calling for renewed hope, sacrifice, and national unity.

In a press statement, Ike described Easter as the cornerstone of the Christian faith, symbolising victory over death, triumph of light over darkness, and the promise of redemption and eternal hope.

She noted that the season calls for deep reflection on the virtues of sacrifice, love, forgiveness, and selfless service to humanity, as exemplified by the life and teachings of Jesus Christ.

The NUJ FCT chairman also highlighted the significance of the Lenten season preceding Easter, marked by fasting, prayer, and acts of charity, describing it as a demonstration of the spiritual commitment of Christians.

According to her, these values are essential in promoting peaceful coexistence, moral integrity, and compassion within society.

Ike urged Christian faithful, particularly media professionals, to uphold these virtues in their daily lives by promoting truth, fairness, and responsibility in the discharge of their duties, while contributing meaningfully to national development.

She further called on Nigerians, irrespective of religious or ethnic differences, to embrace unity, tolerance, and mutual respect, stressing that the nation’s strength lies in its diversity.

The NUJ chairman also encouraged citizens to extend love and kindness to the less privileged, noting that Easter is a season of giving, compassion, and renewed commitment to humanity.

She appealed to leaders at all levels to draw inspiration from the spirit of sacrifice and service associated with Easter by prioritising the welfare of the people, promoting justice, and ensuring inclusive governance.

While wishing Christians a joyful and peaceful celebration, Ike advised Nigerians to celebrate responsibly in an atmosphere of peace and goodwill.

“May the resurrection of Christ renew our hope, strengthen our unity, and usher in lasting peace and prosperity for our nation,” she said.
