NCoS gets 500m security grant from Bua group

In continued efforts to boost security in the country, the Nigerian Correctional Service, NCoS, has received a security sector grant of N500,000,000.00, Five Hundred Million Naria, being offered by the Abdulsamad Rabiu initiative for Africa, ASR Africa, an initiative of the Chairman of Bua
group of Companies, Alhaji Abdulsalam Rabiu as part of her social development program.

The Controller General of Nigerian Correctional Service, NCoS, Haliru Nababa, while recieving the grant at its Headquarters in Abuja, applauded the initiative for its gesture towards Promoting security in the country while promising to make judicious use of the grant as intervention to improve on the Security of Custodial Centers by adding, another layer of technological surveillance that will enhance the remote monitoring frameworks.

Nababa also said that the grant will provide the service with equipment in ensuring that the security solutions cover a wider range of Custodial Centers and will reduce the chances of further attacks.

On capacity building, he noted that more personnel will enjoy quality training on how to effectively utilize the IT solutions in driving the Service forward this will improve the morale of Staff.

Nababa further stressed that the image management of the Service was not left out as he promised to bring to limelight the efforts of the CGC through hi-tech equipment.

The CGC promised to expand the Service by employing more technology to make the Service at par with international Correctional Centres in developed countries.

While presenting the cheque to the Controller General of Corrections, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Initiative Dr. Ubong Udo said the organization was set up as a vehicle to drive the Chairman’s mission for Nigerian and Africa and to crate a platform where Nigerians and Africans can take responsibility to solve their own developmental problems by looking inwards.

Udoh stated that the initiative has three thematic areas which include Health, Education and Social Development and the NCoS through her rehabilitation and reformation programs falls under the third thematic area hence the grant.
