In a bid to ensure food sufficiency in his constituency, Senator Isah Jibrin Echocho has donated hundreds of 50kg bags of fertilizer to farmers across the nine local government areas of Kogi East. The donation, which was made yesterday, is part of the senator’s legislative provision for his constituents.
According to Hon Ibrahim Amodu, legislative aide to the senator, the fertilizer donation is aimed at ensuring a robust yield in this farming season. “Senator Echocho is committed to supporting his constituents, particularly farmers, to improve their productivity and contribute to food sufficiency in the region,” Amodu said.
Notably, specialized fertilizer designed to improve rice yield was distributed to the three riverine local government areas with rice production prospects, namely Ibaji, Omala, and Bassa, this is in addition to the 50kg to boost other food crops like maize, beans, millet and cassava. This targeted support is expected to enhance rice production in these areas, benefiting local farmers and contributing to food security in the region.
This gesture by Senator Echocho demonstrates his dedication to the welfare of his constituents and his commitment to supporting the agricultural sector in Kogi East. The donation is expected to have a positive impact on the lives of farmers and their families, as well as contribute to the overall food sufficiency in the region.
