By Augustine Aminu

The Holy Father, Pope Francis, has honoured The Metropolitan Grand Knight, Knight of Saint Mulumba, Abuja Metropolitan Council, Sir Johnson Abiodun Jimoh and others with the prestigious Papal Knighthood of St. Gregory the Great (KSGG)

In a press statement by the Abuja Metropolitan Worthy Public Relations Officer, Sir Hilary Kwapyong said the announcement of the Pope’s honour was delivered by the Catholic Bishop of Lokoja Diocese Most Rev. Dr. Martin Dada Abejide Olorunmolu on the occasion of his New year Message at Immaculate Conception Cathedral Lokoja.

He said the honour of the Papal Knighthood to the WMGK did not come as a surprise as Sir Jimoh has distinguished himself in faith, morals and have contributed immensely to the growth of the Church in Lokoja, Abuja and other dioceses.

According to Kwapyong, the Abuja Worthy Metropolitan  Grand Knight,  Sir Johnson Abiodun Jimoh have been instrumental to the physical and spiritual development of the local Church thereby helping in no small measures in grassroots evangelisation in the Archdiocese and beyond.

He added that as soldiers of Christ and the Church, Knights are expected to be fired with a fervent zeal of the Holy Spirit for the social apostolate, holding in high esteem professional competence, family and civic sense, virtues related to social behaviour, such as honesty, sense of justice, sincerity, courtesy and moral courage without which there can be no religious or social apostolate.

The honor is bestowed upon Catholic men and women (and certain notable non-Catholics) in recognition of their personal service to the Holy See and to the Catholic Church, through their unusual labours, their support of the Holy See, and the examples they set in their communities and their countries.
