Kaduna Government sympathises with Sanga LGA over bandit attacks

The Kaduna State Government on Friday sympathized with the people of Sanga Local Government Area following frequent bandits’ attacks on their communities.

In a statement, signed and pasted on his Facebook wall on Friday, Governor Nasir el-Rufai, stated this, during the presentation of staff of office to the Chief of Gwantu, His Highness, Alhaji Balarabe Abdullahi Karma, held in Gwantu, Sanga LGA, on Thursday, 22nd December 2022.

Governor Nasir el-Rufai, while commiserated with all those that lost their loved ones or their property during the attack, further assured them of the security forces’ continuing onslaught against bandits.

He urged all communities to continue to uphold friendly relations and mutual coexistence, adding: “As we approach the 2023 elections, I appeal to our traditional, community and religious leaders to continue preaching to ensure peaceful exercise of democratic rights. Let all those entitled to vote be encouraged to do so freely, in an atmosphere devoid of any violence or intimidation.”

He advised youths not to allow themselves to be used by politicians to curtail the constitutional rights of any citizen to vote for the party and candidate of his or her choice.

Governor Nasir el-Rufai while felicitating the people of Gwantu Chiefdom who have severally conveyed their joy at the restructuring of the old Gwantu Chiefdom which resulted in the creation of the Arak Chiefdom, said Gwantu is a historical chiefdom dating back hundreds of years which the Kaduna State Government re-established to correct an administrative anomaly.

“We, therefore, wish the people of this old chiefdom and the Gwantu Traditional Council every success in making it one of the best chiefdoms in the state, prospering in peace, unity and inclusion,” he said.

He further assured of adequate security to enable the exercise of the electoral rights of people.

“We urge His Royal Highness, Alhaji Balarabe Abdullahi Karma to see his new appointment as a call to service. We call on the members of the Gwantu Traditional Council, title holders and all ruling houses in the chiefdom to accord him respect and provide their full support to the new Chief of Gwantu. We appeal to all residents of Gwantu chiefdom to continue to uphold peace and harmonious coexistence,” he said.
