Kano Man Sues In-laws For Taking His Wife

A man identified as Kabiru Muhammad has sues his in-laws before a Shariah court for allegedly taking his wife from her marital home without his permission in Kano State.

The plaintiff brought three of his wife’s relatives, Ali Dan Abba, Hadiza Dan Abba, and Haruna Bala Dangwauro, before the court in Kano Municipal’s Hotoro Masallachi district, Daily Trust reports on Thursday.

The wife stated in court that she was not forced out of her husband’s house, saying that she went to her elder sister’s house on her own because her husband was not taking care of her.

The woman said, “I took myself to my elder sister. Nobody forced me to do that. I have been sick for a long time, but he refused to take me to hospital. That was why I decided to go to my sister’s in Dambatta LGA.”

The court presided over by Mallam Nasir Muhammad Ahmad, ordered that the woman be sent to the hospital for treatment for the case to proceed.
