Why Kogi Govt. Bans Issuance Of Consent Letter For Mining Activities

The Kogi State Government has placed a ban on the issuance of consent letter to miners without its approval.

The Kogi State Commissioner For Solid Minerals and Natural Resources, Engr. Bashiru announced this on Thursday in Lokoja at the Glass House, Government House.

Gegu told newsmen after a meeting between the State Government and stakeholders in the mining sector that the order takes immediate effect.

Similarly, the Commissioner disclosed that henceforth, all community development agreement must be vetted before mining activities can takes place in any part of the state.

The Commissioner reiterated the State Government’s commitment to ensuring sanity in the mining sector of the State.
