Jamie Carragher questions Palmer’s claim for Premier League’s top award after stunning display

Liverpool legend, Jamie Carragher has questioned whether Cole Palmer should be in the conversation for the Premier League Player of the Year award this season.

This comes after Palmer’s sensational display in Chelsea’s 6-0 thumping of Everton in the Premier League on Monday night.

The England international scored four goals against Everton at Stamford Bridge.

The 21-year-old has become a key player for the Blues under Mauricio Pochettino.

However, Carragher, who praised Palmer for his performance against the Toffees, initially suggested he was the favourite for the Young Player of the Year award, but now believes he should be considered for the main award.

In a tweet via his X account, Carragher wrote, “Cole Palmer was nailed on for YPOTY, how close is he to POTY?”

Palmer is currently levelled with Manchester City’s Erling Haaland in the race for the Premier League Golden Boot with 20 goals to his name.
