627 PDP delegates to elect candidate ahead of guber polls

A total of 627 delegates of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, will today elect the party’s standard-bearer ahead of the forthcoming November governorship election in Ondo State.

The delegates were elected during the party’s congress held across the 18 local government areas of the state.

No fewer than seven aspirants are seeking the ticket of the party after they were cleared a few weeks ago.

The aspirants include Adeolu Akinwumi, Bosun Arebuwa, Sola Ebiseni, Agboola Ajayi, Bamidele Akingboye, John Ola Mafo, and Kolade Akinjo.

Two of the aspirants, Ajayi and Ebesi had previously contested for the party ticket but failed.

Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo will oversee the primaries as the Chairman of the Primary Election Committee.

Confirming the primaries, the Publicity Secretary of the party in the state, Kennedy Peretei, said, “The International Culture and Events Centre (The Dome), Akure, is the venue for the exercise.

“A total of 627 delegates from the 18 local government areas of the state are expected to elect the standard bearer of the party for the November 16, 2024, governorship election.

“All those who are not delegated or have no business at the venue are advised to keep a reasonable distance from the arena.”
