Lagos Govt shuts down hotels, Catholic, other churches over noise pollution

The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency, LASEPA, has temporarily shut down churches, hotels, bars and other establishments in several areas of the state over alleged noise pollution.

The affected areas include Ifako-Ijaiye, Abesan Estate, Abule-Egba, Alagbado, Command and Dopemu.

Tokunbo Wahab, the state Commissioner of the Ministry of Environment and Water Resources, posted this on his X handle on Friday.

Affected establishments include the Catholic Church, 1602 Hotel, Seventh Heaven Bar & Lounge, Lourita Hotel & Suites, God’s Porch Ministries, Wonderful Bible Prayer Ministries, White Pavilion Hotel, Quest Hotel & Suites, Excel Hotel & Suite and HoneyComb Confectionery Ltd.

The statement said the establishments were temporarily closed to “compel compliance with environmental regulations.

“LASEPA emphasized the vital importance of businesses adhering to environmental standards.”
