Early preparation key for Rangers’ title defence – Ilechukwu

Rangers head coach, Fidelis Ilechukwu, has said it is important for the team to begin preparations for next season early in order to achieve their objective.

The Flying Antelopes will officially kick-start their preparation for the 2024/25 season on Tuesday.

Rangers will look to successfully defend their Nigeria Premier Football League title and also do well in the CAF Champions League.

Ilechukwu reflected on the short break after a hectic 2023/24 campaign and why it is important for his team prepare adequately for upcoming season.

“It was a needed break for the footballers after a lengthy season that was energy-sapping, even when more time would have been given,” stated the former Plateau United coach.

“We can’t do that as we have to kick-start preparation for the continental competition that is scheduled to start in August. Returning early is a sacrifice we must make to realize our set target for the coming season.”
