Accident claims two lives on Lagos-Ibadan expressway

The Federal Road Safety Corps, Ogun Sector Command, has confirmed the death of two persons in a road accident that occurred on the Long Bridge, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

The crash, which happened at about 5:38 a.m. on Monday, involved a Mazda bus with registration number EDE217XB and a MAN diesel truck registered as AJL715XA.

The spokesperson for the command, Florence Okpe, said the crash involved three male adults, with one person injured.

Okpe attributed the cause of the crash to road obstruction and fatigue.

She noted that the injured victim was taken to Hopeland Hospital Warewa, and the bodies of the deceased were deposited at Real Divine Hospital morgue in Ibafo.

She said, “The number of people involved was three, all male adults. One person sustained injuries while the other two were killed in the crash.”

“The suspected causes of the crash were road obstruction and fatigue.”

The Sector Commander, Akinwumi Fasakin, expressed sympathy to the families of the deceased and advised motorists to always be alert while driving and to take regular breaks to avoid fatigue and falling asleep at the wheel.
