Police arrest woman for allegedly torturing two toddlers in Adamawa

Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a 37-year-old woman, Fatima Abubakar in Yola South local government area of the state for allegedly torturing two toddlers under her care.

The police took Fatima into custody after it was revealed that she had physically assaulted a 2-year-old girl and a young boy.

Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, the police spokesperson, confirmed the arrest of the woman on Monday, saying that investigations uncovered that she subjected the children to abuse because they urinated and defecated inside the house.

He said, “neighbours reported that Fatima, who is childless, had a history of mistreating the children, including denying them food and warning others not to interfere in her affairs.”

The police spokesman explained that Fatima confessed to the crimes after she was arrested on Saturday.

According to him, the Commissioner of Police, Morris Dankombo has ordered that Fatima be charged to court for prosecution.
