Afrobeats star Zinoleesky has opened up on his inspiring story of pursuing a music career despite initial challenges.
In an interview on SB Live, he revealed that he ran away from home at a young age to focus on music, driven by his passion for the art.
Zinoleesky explained that Nigerian parents often prefer traditional careers over entertainment, making it tough for aspiring artists.
Nigerian parents are always in denial whenever you what to do stuff like music. I started freestyling when I was very young, I didn’t want to sound like nobody. So, you just have to find a way. Me, I did some crazy stuffs. I ran away from home to do music,” he said.
Undeterred, Zionleeskly said he started freestyling and began his music career as a rapper before transitioning to singing.
His big break came in 2017 with viral freestyle videos and he later signed with Marlian Music and released his debut album, Chrome Eccentric, featuring hits like ‘Ma Pariwo’ and ‘Kilofeshe’.
