Anambra ADC Chairman Laments Slow Registration, Portal Glitches In Party Membership Drive

Anambra ADC chairman says only 22,000 members registered, blaming heavy portal traffic and technical glitches slowing revalidation exercise.

The Anambra State Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Mr. Patrick Obianyo, has expressed frustration at the poor running of the party’s registration and revalidation processes in the state.

The state chairman stated this on Saturday during the inauguration of the state chapter of the ADC Independent Campaign Council (AICC), a support group under the party.

He said as at last Thursday, the party had only been able to register about 22,000 persons in the state, adding that the slow pace of the registration portal was hampering the exercise.

“Just on Saturday , we mobilised a lot of people to various registration centres, but it wasn’t easy. We could only register a few people and the rest went back home disappointed.

“In fact, we resorted to taking the personal data of the people around, their names, BVN and other vital details, in the hope that we will try it in the night when traffic will be less, yet it was difficult. It was only around 12am that we were able to register some more people. That is the problem we are having now, otherwise, we are working to meet our target of 120,000 members.

“As at three days ago, only 22,000 members had been registered in Anambra. And that is a far cry from what some other states like Adamawa, even though they started earlier than us.

“Our target is an extra 100,000 registration between now and Monday. The challenge we have is that the process is not running smoothly. I think the traffic on the site is too much and the portal is becoming difficult to register people.”

He inaugurated the 10-man committee that constitutes the leadership of the state chapter of AICC, charging them to work hard to ensure they preach to more people about the need to remove the All Progressives Congress (APC) that had brought so much hardship to the people.

Earlier, the National Coordinator of ADC Independent Campaign Council (AICC), Chief Jaja Anthony Ibiam charged members of the council to work assiduously, insisting that leaving Nigeria under the grip of APC could amount to killing the country.

He said: “The time to take back our country and put her in the league of successful countries in the world is now! Let’s seize this moment to work towards a brighter future for ourselves, children and Nigerians yet unborn.

“At no point in time should we lose sight of the fact that the drivers of this desired change are you and I. So, go out there and make it happen!”
