Police have launched a manhunt after gunmen abducted six NSUK students and another victim from a lodge in Nasarawa.
The operatives of the Nigerian Police Force Nasarawa State command have launched a manhunt to rescue students abducted by yet to be identified gunmen from an off-campus lodge in Gudi, Akwanga local government area of the State.
The ugly incident occurred on Tuesday night when marauding gunmen reportedly stormed a students’ lodge at Anguwar Ninzo, on the outskirts of Gudi, and whisked away several occupants to yet to be identified location.
According to the police, the command received a distress call about the attack at about 9:00 p.m. on May 6, 2026.
The abducted victims were identified as six students of the Faculty of Engineering, Gudi Campus of Nasarawa State University, alongside another victim who was said to be visiting one of the students at the time of the unfortunate incident.
Confirming the ugly development in a statement signed by the command’s Police Public Relations Officer, Ramhan Nansel, and obtained by our correspondent in Lafia, the Nasarawa state capital on Thursday, stated that the Commissioner of Police, Shetima Jauro-Mohammed, had visited the scene for an on-the-spot assessment.
The police disclosed that the Area Commander in Akwanga had been redeployed to coordinate field operations in the area pending the rescue of the victims.
It, therefore, maintained that a combined security team comprising personnel of the Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services, military, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, vigilante groups, and other tactical units had been mobilised to track down the abductors.
The police assured that further updates would be provided as investigations and rescue operations continue.
