The NFF has appointed Abdu Maikaba and Eboboritse Uwejamomere as coaches of the Flying Eagles and Golden Eaglets.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has appointed experienced tactician Abdu Maikaba as head coach of the Flying Eagles, while Eboboritse Uwejamomere has been named head coach of the Golden Eaglets following the approval of the Federation’s Executive Committee.
The appointments followed recommendations by the NFF Technical and Development Committee as part of efforts to strengthen the country’s youth national teams ahead of upcoming international competitions.
Maikaba returns to the national team setup with a wealth of experience, having previously handled the Golden Eaglets and also served as assistant coach of the Flying Eagles during Paul Aigbogun’s tenure.
The highly respected coach has managed several top Nigerian clubs, including Enyimba FC, Kano Pillars, Plateau United and Wikki Tourists, while also guiding Akwa United to victory in the 2017 President Federation Cup.
Uwejamomere, who takes charge of the Golden Eaglets, brings strong technical and youth development experience to the role. He has worked for years as a coach-analyst with the Super Eagles and also served with the Super Falcons.
Currently the head of academy at Sporting Lagos FC, Uwejamomere has previously worked in youth development roles with English clubs Millwall FC, Gillingham FC and Nottingham Forest FC. He also handled Abeokuta-based Stormers FC as head coach.
Meanwhile, action continued in the National Playoffs of the President Federation Cup across the men’s and women’s categories.
In the women’s fixtures, NAF Queens defeated Model Queens 3-1, Mighty Jets Mata overcame Kada Queens 3-1, Ikukuoma Queens edged Bayelsa Princesses 2-1, while Esthinghton FC beat Zorha Queens 2-1.
In the men’s category, Sunshine U19 defeated Harmony FC 3-1, while G12 FC advanced after beating Dokkal Khairu FC 3-2 on penalties following a goalless draw.
Westgate FC secured a 2-0 victory over Amanda FC, Kanta Warriors defeated Zamfara United Feeders 3-0, and Adamawa Academy progressed after an 8-7 penalty shootout win against El-Kanemi Warriors Jnr following a thrilling 3-3 draw.
Sporting Supreme U19 also recorded the biggest win of the round with a dominant 5-0 victory over Reighner FC.
