Desmond Elliot Withdraws From Lagos Assembly Primary, Alleges Intimidation

Desmond Elliot said intimidation across several zones forced his withdrawal from Lagos State House of Assembly primary for Surulere Constituency I.

Lagos State House of Assembly member, Desmond Elliot, has withdrawn from the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election,

surulere constituency 1,alleging intimidation and obstruction of his supporters during the exercise.


Speaking shortly before announcing his decision, Elliot said he and others had faced persistent intimidation across different zones, adding that the situation had made it impossible for the process to continue fairly in his area.

“And of course, in all zones, they’ve been intimidating and stopping us. I want to officially announce my withdrawal from this particular race. This is my ward.

If you go outside, those are my people outside. Please show them outside. They’ve not been allowed.

So, I am officially announcing my withdrawal from this race. Good luck. Thank you.

And God bless you. Thank you.”

His withdrawal marks a dramatic turn in the primary contest, which had drawn attention within his constituency ahead of the party’s selection process.
