The Osun State Police Command, has advised all political parties, candidates, supporters, and all stakeholders that, based on credible intelligence and security concerns within Oriade Local Government Area, the must suspend all forms of gatherings and campaigns.
Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Gotan, said the move was due to non-cooperative attitude of some parties as all efforts by the Command to foster peace ended in a deadlock.
The command noted that the measure was aimed at preventing any breach of peace/breakdown of law and order, maintaining public order, and protecting the lives and property of residents of the area.
”All political parties, candidates, supporters, followers and members of the public are hereby admonished to take note and comply for the best interest of peace.
This advice becomes imperative as the peace meeting earlier scheduled/called by the Commissioner of Police with the concern political parties could not hold.”
He said the Command remained committed to ensuring a peaceful and secure environment for all residents and urged members of the public to remain law-abiding and cooperate with security agencies.
