APC candidate Biodun Oyebanji defeated his rivals at Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele’s polling unit in Ekiti governorship election.
The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, has recorded a decisive victory at the polling unit of the Leader of the Senate, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele.
Announcing the result on Saturday, the Polling Officer, Ms. Elizabeth Oregbemeh, said Oyebanji secured 164 votes, while his closest challenger, the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Wole Oluyede, polled eight votes.
According to her, the governorship candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP), Mr. Ayodeji Ojo, came third with one vote.
Earlier, Bamidele expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the Ekiti governorship election, describing voter turnout across the state as impressive.
He also commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the prompt deployment of electoral officials and election materials across the 16 local government areas of the state.
INEC had disclosed that out of the 1,059,360 registered voters in Ekiti State, 1,028,929 collected their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the election.
