Lagos will host the 2026 edition of the Africa Real Estate Magazine & Awards on December 13 at the Lekki Coliseum Centre, with the event set to bring together professionals and institutions involved in Africa’s property and built environment sectors.
The gathering comes at a time when real estate markets across the continent are being shaped by rapid urbanisation, rising demand for housing, infrastructure requirements and the growing use of technology in property development and management.
The programme will feature recognition for outstanding individuals, organisations and projects, alongside discussions covering key areas of the industry, including residential and commercial property, construction, architecture, infrastructure, investment, affordable housing, sustainability and property technology.
Organisers say the awards are intended to recognise contributions to the sector while creating room for wider discussions about the opportunities and challenges confronting Africa’s real estate industry.
Amb. Kingsley Amafibe, speaking on the choice of Lagos as the host city, said the location reflects the importance of the city to the continent’s property and investment landscape.
“Lagos is the right setting because it is one of Africa’s most active centres for real estate, investment and urban development. Holding the event here gives us an opportunity to bring different markets and perspectives together while putting Africa’s property story in focus,” Amafibe said.
He said the event would also take a broader approach to recognising achievements within the sector.
“What makes this event different is its focus on the people, projects and ideas shaping Africa’s built environment, rather than simply celebrating awards. We want to create a platform where achievement, innovation and the realities of the industry can be discussed,” he said.
The Africa Real Estate Magazine & Awards 2026 will also examine the growing role of technology in the sector, including proptech, digital platforms, data, artificial intelligence and smart-building solutions.
Sustainability is another area expected to feature prominently, as developers and cities across Africa face increasing pressure to address energy efficiency, climate resilience, infrastructure and long-term affordability.
The December event is expected to bring together stakeholders from different African markets, providing an opportunity to compare experiences and discuss developments shaping the continent’s built environment.
