Trump Slams Norway Over Nobel Peace Prize Decision, Says It Has An ‘Indelible Stain’

Trump slams Norway over Nobel Peace Prize decision, calling it an “indelible stain” after being overlooked for the prestigious award.

US President Donald Trump has renewed his criticism of the Nobel Peace Prize selection process, describing the decision to overlook him as an “indelible stain” on Norway and those responsible for choosing the recipient.

Speaking at a campaign rally in Syracuse, New York, on Friday, Trump condemned the selection, accusing those behind the decision of making a disgraceful and embarrassing choice.

His comments followed the announcement of former International Criminal Court judge Navi Pillay as this year’s recipient. Pillay chaired a United Nations commission of inquiry that concluded Israel had committed genocide in Gaza.

Trump dismissed Pillay as a “mystery person”, claiming he had never heard of her and questioning the recognition she had received.

The president has repeatedly expressed frustration at not receiving the Nobel Peace Prize, citing what he describes as his efforts to prevent or resolve international conflicts.

“This is an indelible stain on Norway and those responsible for making such a disgraceful and embarrassing decision,” Trump said.

He also referred to several international disputes, including tensions involving North and South Korea, Japan and North Korea, and China and Taiwan, claiming he had helped avert conflicts. However, he provided no evidence to substantiate his assertions.

Trump further accused a group he described as radical ideologues of undermining the credibility of the Nobel Peace Prize, alleging that they opposed democracy and threatened civilisation.

“The Nobel Peace Prize has been permanently undermined by a small group of radical ideologues who oppose democracy and stand against civilization. And we will not forget, Norway,” he said.
