Ekiti task force places petrol marketers under surveillance, unveils fuel allocation

The Task Force Committee on Fuel Scarcity constituted by Gov. Biodun Oyebanji has placed some fuel stations in Ado-Ekiti, Omuo and other towns in the state under surveillance for suspected diversion of petroleum products meant for their outlets.

The chairman of the task force, Mr Adesokan Israel said this in an interview with newsmen on Saturday in Ado Ekiti.

Adesokan, popularly known as Jaru, who led the field monitoring team, said products distributed by NNPC to the marketers are expected to arrive at the petrol stations within 24 hours.

“The issue of diversion has become worrisome and the government of the day, under the capable leadership of Gov. Biodun Oyebanji will nip it in the bud in the interest of the Ekiti people most especially the masses,” he said.

The chairman urged petrol dealers and stations not to hoard the product or hike its price as there would be serious consequences if they do. The task force will duly monitor the sales proceeding, he insisted, noting that petrol is to be sold to the good people of Ekiti at the right cost.

The taskforce subsequently released a list of fueling stations with the quantity of petrol available to them today in Ekiti as follows: Adeleke Oil and Gas, Ado Ekiti, Reg number: AGB653ZD, 33,000 litres; Anisco Oil and Gas, Ilawe-Ekiti, Reg number: APP184XT, 45,000 litres; NNPC Old Iyin Road, Ado-Ekiti; Reg number: ADK129XB, 40,000 litres; M.A Yusuf Oil and Gas, Ilumoba Ekiti, Reg number: DEA504XA, 45,000 litres; James Aina Oil and Gas, Omuo-Ekiti, Reg number: ADK103XC, 33,000 litres and Ayo Purutent Oil and Gas, Ado-Ekiti, Reg number: WWW39IZE, 45,000 litres.
