France the biggest test for England – Southgate

England manager, Gareth Southgate has said France poses the biggest test his team could come up against at the 2022 World Cup.

The Three Lions have now set up a quarter-final clash with the current holders on Saturday.

England hammered Senegal 3-0 in the last 16 on Sunday to qualify the last eight for the second successive World Cup.

However, Les Bleus stand in their way to the semi-final, after they beat Poland earlier in the day.

Southgate’s men have only beaten France once in seven previous fixtures since the turn of the century.

“In terms of France, it’s the biggest test we could face.

“They’re world champions with an incredible depth of talent and outstanding individual players. They’re very difficult to play against and score goals against, so it’s a fantastic challenge and a brilliant game to prepare for,” Southgate said, ahead of the clash at the Al Bayt Stadium.
