Why Man Utd will not appeal Casemiro’s ban – Gary Neville

Former Manchester United captain, Gary Neville, has said that his former club would not appeal midfielder Casemiro’s three-match ban because it would be too much of a risk for Erik ten Hag’s men, who will need the Brazilian back for their crucial Carabao Cup final against Newcastle United later this month.

Casemiro was shown a straight red card during Man United’s Premier League 2-1 win against Crystal Palace on Saturday.

The former Real Madrid star will now miss Man United’s next three domestic matches – a double-header against Leeds United and Leicester City’s trip to Old Trafford.

Recall that Casemiro was given his marching orders against Crystal Palace after placing both his hands around the neck of Will Hughes.

Should Man United launch an appeal, they would risk the possibility of an extended ban, casting doubt over his availability in the Carabao Cup final.

“He will never get off. It is too big of a risk,” Neville said during his podcast with Sky Sports on Sunday.

“They could risk another game and they could increase it so they won’t appeal it. I think they will feel they can get through the three games.”
