Cross River Governor-Elect, Otu, hails Tinubu at 71

…. Says Nigeria will be better under his watch

The Governor-Elect of Cross River State, Senator (Prince) Bassey Otu, has congratulated the President-Elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the occasion of his 71st birthday, describing him as a political colossus and quintessential democrat who contributed in no small measure to the entrenchment of democracy and its sustenance in Nigeria.

Otu said in Abuja on Wednesday that the President-Elect had over the years proven to be a greatly exceptional and outstanding leader that deserves to be celebrated by all and sundry as he clocks 71.

According to the Cross River Governor-elect, Tinubu, who he sees as “a tenacious, dogged, consistent, courageous and compassionate politician”, would offer good and effective governance that will ameliorate the living standards of the people and take the country to a greater height of development.

He noted that at 71, Asiwaju has demonstrated, as could be seen from the previous offices he occupied, that he has the capacity, acumen and experience to govern a large and diverse country like Nigeria.

“I join in celebrating the 71st birthday of our President-Elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, a highly respected statesman, a visionary, pragmatic and purposeful leader, a charismatic figure with great appeal to many and a dogged politician well-known for the significant role he played in the struggle for the enthronement of democracy in the country.

“At 71, going by his remarkable and outstanding records of achievements in previously held positions, his antecedents, particularly as Governor of Lagos State between 1999 and 2007, I have no doubt in my mind that Asiwaju would succeed in charting the path of progress for Nigeria and the country will be better positioned for greatness under his watch,” Otu remarked.

While praying for long life and God’s guidance for the President-elect, the incoming Governor of Cross River State called on all Nigerians, regardless of tribal, ethnic and political affiliations, to support and work with Asiwaju’s administration in the interest of the country.

Born on March 29, 1952, Tinubu emerged the President-Elect after he was officially declared by the electoral body as winner of the 2023 presidential election held on February 25 and he is currently warming up to take over the mantle of leadership of the country from the outgoing President Muhammadu Buhari on May 29.
