“We pray for new hope for Nigeria” – Anglican bishop

The Anglican Bishop of Abakaliki, Rev. Monday Nkwagu, on Thursday tasked leaders and the led to embrace sacrificial services capable of impacting national development positively.

Nkwagu gave the charge when he spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abakaliki on the significance of Easter which he said signified victory and salvation for mankind.

He charged Nigerians to shun corruption; violence and greed, stressing that embracing sacrificial living which characterised the life of Jesus Christ would bring improvements.

Nkwagu also charged Nigerians to imbibe true spirit of nation building in the spirit of the season.

“Easter celebration reminds us of victory, transformation and power over evil and death, which Jesus Christ had given through resurrection.

“This resurrection has given us hope for victory over death and evil and also brought wellbeing to life,’’ he said.

He expressed optimism that 2023 Easter celebration would usher in good governance, security, development, good standards of living and growth.

“We are eager and expecting an administration that will bring hope and transformation over what has been wrong. We believe it is going to be real next level,’’ he said.

Nkwagu stressed that if Nigeria’s democracy would stand, and leaders and the led exhibited the fear of God, Nigeria would be a better country.
