Suspected Fulani terrorists from Nasarawa heading to Kogi East

Intelligence reports reaching CAPITAL POST on Sunday indicated that some fully armed Fulani terrorists were sighted at Omara after crossing River Benue from Nasarawa State on their way to attack communities in Omala, Dekina and Bassa in Kogi East Senatorial District.

The source said, their mission is to attack vulnerable communities in Dekina, Bassa and Omala Local Government Councils.

The source said, their mission is to attack vulnerable communities in Dekina, Bassa and Omala Local Government Councils.

The reports of the terrorists heading toward Kogi State has generated tension in the affected Local Government Councils as at Sunday with residents seen discussing what to do.

The source hinted: “A large number of suspected Fulani terrorists have been sighted in Omara after crossing from Nassarawa State via River Benue a few hours ago.
“All villages from Abejukolo, Agbenema, Oganenigu, Ojapata,
etc that have been on the red alert of this crisis should be notified immediately, please.

“Security agencies should be informed to beef up strategies immediately, please.

“The number of terrorists that crossed this evening into Omara close to Ikende is unprecedented.”

CAPITAL POST recalled that the criminal elements attacked communities of Oganenigu, Edede, Ojapata in Dekina LGA, and Iyade while they were advancing to attack Agbenema in Omala Local Government before the local vigilantes in a counter attack drove them backwards.

The attack on the affected communities left many people dead, houses worth millions of naira burnt.

Some fleeing locals are currently taking refuge in Dekina, Anyigba, Iyale, Abejukolo and other neighbouring villages.
