Nigeria’s Military high command has assured that it is prepared to tackle any crisis that may spring up after the May 29 handover that will usher in president-elect, Bola Tinubu.
Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, had raised eyebrows when he called for improved security architecture within the period culminating into the exit of Office of the current President, Muhammadu Buhari, whose tenure comes to an end on May 29.
“We appeal for an escalation of security operations over the 39 days remaining till the end of the tenure of this administration and beyond so that the change of baton at the federal level does not result in a dangerous lull that criminal outlaws can exploit,” the governor said recently while speaking on the Security Report presented by the state’s Commissioner of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan.
Briefing journalists on Thursday in Abuja at the Defence Headquarters, Major General Musa Danmadami, Director of Defence Media Operations, rubbished reports of possible crisis after the handover.
He urged Nigerians to treat the rumors as false alarm.

He recalled that past security advisories, including that of the United States Government which were issued with Red Alert, did not transmit the threat that was predicted.
Danmadami thus urged Nigerians that their safety is guaranteed, and that the Military is not resting on its responsibility.
He added that the Military is prepared to tackle any crisis that may spring up after the handover.
On efforts of the Military in curbing oil theft, Danmadami informed that within recent weeks, the Military destroyed as much as 46 illegal crude oil refineries in the Niger Delta region.
