I Gave Up Dancing To Take Care Of My Daughter — Yeni Kuti

Yeni, daughter of afrobeat pioneer, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, has said that she gave up her dancing career to take care of her child after her mother, Remilekun Taylor, died.

Yeni said this in an interview with media personality, Chude Jideonwo, which was shared on Sunday.

The dancer stated that her late mother took care of her child whenever she went on tour with the music band and that she had to suspend her profession after her mother died to care for her child.

She said, “My mother was there for me so much that I was able to go on tour, leave my daughter with her.

“My daughter was with my mother until my mother died. My mum passed when my daughter was about 12/13.

“At that point, I had to give up dancing, going on tour and I stayed in Nigeria, while Femi and Funke were with the band. I gave that up, My mum was there 24/7. We are going on tour, and I know she is safe. I miss that because I have to give up.”
