KOGI: Integrity Club International Condemns Attack On SDP Guber Candidate, Murtala Yakubu-Ajaka

A socio political group, Integrity Club International has condemned what it described as the dastardly and cowardly attack on a frontline Governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) Governorship Murtala Yakubu-Ajaka

In a statement on Monday signed by its Media officer, Augustine Aminu KSM, the group urged the Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba, to order an immediate probe into the matter, describing it as one too many.

Recall that recently, Ajaka and some vehicles accompanying him were attacked by assailants on two power bikes and Toyota Hilux.

The incident occured close to Lokoja around the ram market at about 3pm and was heralded by a Mercedes Benz Limousine with Governor Bello’s official crest accompanied by an open pick up loaded with masked and hooded men bearing AK-47 Assault Rifles.

However, Integrity Club International accused the Kogi state government of harassment and intimidation of opposition, warning that the state government should desist from desperate politicking capable of plunging the state into anarchy.

It said it is a smear campaign
and a ploy to implicate Murtala Yakubu-Ajaka.

“Democracy is and remains about the freedom of the people to make their choice of leaders according to instrumentality of the ballot. The will and choices of Kogi people must be respected and no candidate or persons deserves to die or be killed just because he belongs to another political party.

“For if Captain Idris Wada was that tolerant to have allowed a Bello he never wanted to succeed him prevail, Bello should know that the people of Kogi are wiser than before and he and his puppet APC candidate, Ododo cannot, we repeat can never shoot their way to through the ballot. They should market their ideas, views and governance perspectives to Kogi electorates who should be at liberty to accept or reject them at the polls as we are certain they will,” it added.
