DSS arrests suspended CBN Governor, Emefiele

The suspended Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, has been arrested by the Department of State Services, DSS, according to unconfirmed reports doing the rounds in Abuja.

Emefiele was earlier suspended on Friday by

President Bola Tinubu.

Tinubu also appointed Mr Folashodun Adebisi Shonubi as the acting Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, in replacement for Emefiele.

The secret police had wanted to take in Emefiele before now but for the quiet intervention of former President Muhammadu Buhari.

The DSS has even gone to court to secure an order to effect Emefiele’s arrest fir alleged terrorism financing offence.
