Mr Bamidele Ologunloluwa, the Ondo Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, has expressed appreciation to Gov. Akeredolu of Ondo State for his support for Sunshine Stars FC of Akure.

Ologunloluwa stated this in a statement on Monday in Akure.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Sunshine Stars finished 4th on the log behind Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Champions Enyimba, Remo Stars and Rivers United at the Super Six in Lagos.

He said the appreciation was important as the governor, being number one supporter and financier of the team, had been giving the team special attention over the years.

“I want to use this opportunity to appreciate the Governor of Ondo State, Akeredolu for the unflinching support that led to the successful season of Sunshine Stars FC of Akure.

“This is important as all the needed support, both financial and moral were given to the team with special attention to the welfare of the players and officials of the team.

“Let me also say we are fortunate to have you at the helm of affairs at the moment most government are not prioritising sports, which has helped us showcase our youths to the world.

“Your premium attention accorded to sports as well as giving utmost priority to the welfare of players (youths) has placed Ondo State high in Nigeria.”

Ologunloluwa later appreciated players, technical crew and backroom staff of the club.

“I must inform you sir that Sunshine Stars emerged as fourth best team in the country, which is the best outing we have had in the last 10 years when we finished sixth on the log and it showed that your investment over the years is yielding the desired results.
