Coalition warns against campaign of calumny against MD FAAN, Kabir Yusuf Mohammed

A Coalition of civil society organizations under the auspice of STAND UP NIGERIA has said it has uncovered a plot by some individuals to use news outlets to attack Mr. Kabiru Yusuf Mohammed, Managing Director and Chief Executive of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).

In a statement signed by its National Coordinator, Comrade Sunday Attah in Abuja on Sunday, the group frowned at recent publications these outlets where they alleged that the MD splashed N200 million on official vehicles.

Attah described the report as concocted and a figment of the imagination of the author, saying it shows the desperation of these media outlets and their sponsors.

According to the statement the whole objective of these news platforms and their cohort is to tarnish the hard earned reputation of Kabiru Yusuf and the integrity of FAAN.

The statement reads in part, “While, we could have elected to ignore this smear campaigns particularly in the media, but it has become imperative to dispel this concocted tissues of lies, fabrication and misinformation.

“We note with deep concern how certain media outlets have consistently allowed themselves to be use as agent of destruction by publishing lies and fake news about a gentleman who has made and still making so much sacrifices for the good of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).”

Attah noted that the allegation lacks substance and displays lack of professionalism, adding that the writers did not quote any documents but went ahead to quote a “source”

He said Mr Mohammed since assuming office as MD of FAAN has worked hard to reposition the agency and improve staff welfare.

He said Nigerians will continue to stand behind the Managing Director and will not allow distractors to discredit the work that he is doing.
