Abutu Family Buries Father As Tributes Flow

The burial ceremony of Hon. Christopher Mohammed Abutu, an astute public servant and politician with integrity, was a solemn and dignified event that brought together family members, friends, dignitaries, and members of the community.

The event took place on Friday December 1, 2023 at their ancestral home in Imane, Olamaboro local government area, Kogi State and it would forever be etched in their memories.

The ceremony commenced with a funeral Mass anchored by his local church, Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Imane, where the soothing melodies of hymns filled the air, creating an atmosphere of reverence and reflection.

The officiating clergy, Rev. Fr. James Adejo delivered a heartfelt sermon, emphasizing the virtues exemplified by the late Hon. Christopher Mohammed Abutu throughout his life and the urgent need for people to rededicate their lives to Christ.

Late Hon. Christopher Mohammed Abutu was described by family, friends and community, as a man of reference and transparency. A man of great faith; helper of mankind and loved by many.

Mr. Victor Ogwu Abutu, the first son of the late Abutu who spoke on behalf of the children highlighted their late father’s loyalty to his wife, children, friends, and the community.

He emphasized that their father’s character was marked by truthfulness, caring, and honesty, and expressed their desire to live their life in the same manner.

Appreciating the congregation, Younger brother to the late Christopher, Comrade Tom Abutu, KSM said his brother was a man who had touched the lives of many. He spoke of Christopher’s professionalism, his integrity, and his commitment to ensuring justice in his dealings with people within and outside the community.

The burial procession made its way to the graveside, where heartfelt prayers were offered, and final farewells were bid to the late Christopher Mohammed Abutu. Family and friends stood together, unified in their grief but also celebrating the remarkable life that Late Hon. Christopher Mohammed Abutu had lived. Tears mingled with expressions of gratitude for the impact he had made in their lives.
