Group to DSS: Investigate Kwankwaso over Kano protest, attack on judiciary

An anti-terrorism group, on the aiges of National Coalition Against Terrorism (NCAT) has asked the Directorate of State Security Service (DSS) to immediately invite former Kano state governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso for interrogation over recent protests, attack on citizens and attacks on the judiciary.

The group warned that if nothing is done quickly, Kwankwaso’s group, Kwankwasiyya Moment may set the country ablaze before of the recent court judgement sacking governor Abba Yusuf as elected governor of Kano state.

Addressing a press conference Tuesday in Abuja, National Co-ordinator of the group, Terrence Kuanum, also raised an alarm that Kwankwasiyya Moment had perfected plans to lead cordinated attacks on the image and person of the Nigerian President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu and causing a civil unrest in Kano and Abuja.

Kuanum said since the eve of the tribunal judgement of Kano State governorship election petition which sacked Engr Abba Kabir Yusuf as Governor of the State, the judicial workers especially Judges have been the target of the Kwankwasiyya foot soldiers for elimination.

According to the group, this action has started already with pockets of protest by few rioters in the guise of protesting the Appeal Court Judgment which confirm the sacking of Abba Kabir Yusuf as Governor of Kano State.

“Without reservation, we call on the Director General of State Security Service to immediately invite Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso for interrogation before Kwankwasiyya set the country on fire. With his position as a former Governor, former minister of Defence and Senator, he did has the capacity to cause violence and he is bent on doing so.

“We also recommend the arrest and interrogation of the following violence merchants who are already engaged by Mr Kwankwasiyya to spearhead the civil unrest in Abuja, Mr Ladipo Johnson, Ladipo Olayoku, Alhaji Abba Kawu, Prince Nwaeze Onu, Tunde Oke, Badmus Kilamuwaye and Olufemi Oguntoyinbo among others.

“In the next few days, they have planned to lead cordinated attacks on the image and person of the Nigerian President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu while the civil unrest is ongoing.

“We are in the know that the Kwankwasiyya group has also hired some people using Auwal Rafsanjani of CISLAC to coordinate some selected civil society organisations to blackmail the judiciary and bastardise the image and integrity of Mr President.

“The call for Kwankwaso’s interrogation as the leader of Kwankwasiyya Movement is a task that must happen now because, we cannot afford to entertain any act of terrorism at the moment.”

While warning that Kwankwasiyya group was becoming a threat to the whole country, the group said: “This is an act of terrorism that must be properly checked by the security agencies in order to forestall anarchy and violent killing by the Kwankwaso foot soldiers. The Kwankwasiyya group has equally commissioned some individuals which we have identified to cause violence in Abuja and other parts of the country in the next few days.

“The job of these individuals is to occupy foreign missions in Nigeria, thereafter, the Supreme Court premises and cause violence ahead of the Supreme Court decision on the Kano State governorship appeal pending before it.”
