Gbajabiamila Linked To Bazaar In Edugate

Chief of Staff to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila has been fingered in the bazaar ripping the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, following a memo he sent to the suspended Minister, Betta Edu, conveying the presidential approval of N3 billion Naira for the verification of the National Social Register (NSR)

The memo dated September 18, 2023, and shared on several social media platforms, was addressed to the Honourable Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, and signed by the presidential aide. In the memo, the use of N3 billion from the COVID-19 Palliative Fund was approved for the Ministry to verify the social register.

The memo entitled, ‘Conveyance of approval: ‘RE: Appeal to use N3,000,000,000,00 (Three Billion Naira from the COVID-19 Palliative Fund for verification of the National Social Register’, reads as follows:

“The above subject matter refers.

“2. Please be informed that Mr. President has approved the expenditure of N3,000,000,000,00 (Three Billion Naira) only, from the COVID-19 Palliative Fund for verification of the National Social Register.

“3. Please accept the assurance of my highest regards”.

On receipt of the memo that same day, Edu was said to have swung into action and directed expedited action on the memo.

A source confirmed Monday evening that many exposures are bound to be released in the days ahead as the embattled Minister has vowed not to go down alone.

In the words of the reliable source that pleaded anonymity, “It is clear that following the suspension of Edu, and considering her current predicament in the hands of the anti-graft agency, she has sworn that she won’t leave anything under the carpet to cover up the misdeeds of others.

The coming days are fraught with frightening uncertainties to unravel the underbelly of corruption”.

As at the time of filing this report on Monday’s evening, the presidency was mute on the veracity of the memo that was spreading like wildfire on many social media platforms.
