Governor Abdullahi Sule said he has no hands in the travails of the protesting women charged to court by police authorities for alleged public disturbance over the recent Supreme Court judgement which upheld his election.
Governor Sule made this known while hosting stakeholders from Lafia Local Government Area led by the Emir of Lafia, HRH Justice Sidi Bage Mohammed (rtd) while on a solidarity visit at the Government House on Tuesday.
According to the Governor, since after the Supreme Court reaffirmed his election, he has since forgiven the women and all those that stood up to challenge his reelection.
“I have been receiving calls seeking for the release of the protesting women. I don’t have a problem with their being released even today because I have personally forgiven them since,” he stated.
He however blamed their predicament on those who misled the women into what they did only to abandon them at their point of need.
“If those that misled the women to take to street protests really cared about them, they would have bailed them by now. But instead, they abandoned the women to their fate,” he added.
The Governor used the visit to thank the people of Lafia for their support during the 2023 general elections and throughout the duration of the litigation that ended with the judgement of the Supreme Court.
He equally appreciated them for their patience even at the point of provocation when members of the opposition spent nights raining abuses and insults on particularly their revered leaders.
Governor Sule singled out the Emir of Lafia to appreciate the role the royal father continued to play towards ensuring unity and peace of the state capital.
He assured them that his administration would work diligently to give Lafia a befitting status of capital of Nasarawa State.
Earlier, leader of the delegation and Emir of Lafia, HRH Justice Sidi Bage Mohammed (rtd) said they were at the Government House to join the Governor in celebrating his victory at the Supreme Court.
