Reps advocate partnership with Ireland on education, others

The House Representatives has called for collaboration between Nigeria and Ireland  in areas of education, technology, agriculture and renewable energy. 

The chairman, Nigeria-Ireland Parliamentary Friendship committee, Professor Paul Nnamchi, gave the charge, while receiving the Irish Ambassador, Peter Ryan, on Thursday, in Abuja. 

Nnamchi, Nnamchi, stated the parliamentary friendship is committed to identifying  areas of mutual interest for collaboration between the two country, especially as it relates to economic development, trade, investment, and technology transfer.

He added that the committee would also work towards facilitating ” business forums, investment symposiums, and trade missions to explore opportunities for bilateral trade and investment between Nigeria and Ireland in conjunction with ministry of affairs and the ambassadors.

“Foster partnerships between chambers of commerce, industry associations, and private sectors to promote entrepreneurship, innovation, and economic growth.”

According to him, “the strategic framework for cooperation between the Nigeria and Ireland Legislative Friendship Committee represents a significant milestone in strengthening bilateral relations, promoting mutual prosperity, and advancing shared goals of peace, stability, and sustainable development.

 “By working together in a spirit of partnership and collaboration, both countries can harness their collective strengths and resources to address common challenges and seize opportunities for a brighter future.”

The Ambassador, in his response, expressed delight over the initiative, stating that his country is committed to collaborating with Nigeria in several areas. 

Ryan said “we are at your disposal. We are very excited for this. And I can’t tell you how grateful we are on behalf of Team Ireland here in Nigeria. How grateful we are for your initiative in this and we look forward to making many successes for both of our peoples together. Thank you very much.”
