Harship: Tinubu meets key private sector players in Aso Rock

President Bola Tinubu on Sunday met with some selected members of the private sector as his administration seeks ways out of the ravaging economic crisis in the country.

The biting economic hardship has engaged the attention of government on recent weeks, even as the organised labour has scheduled a mass protest for Tuesday and Wednesday over the issue.

Speaking at the meeting held in the State House, Tinubu emphasised that the his government is concerned with what’s happening and is poised to pull the economy from firther slide.

He said the meeting was called in order to brainstorm on what can be done to bring life back to the economy.

According to the president, everything possible has to be done give hope and assurance to the downtrodden citizens that economic recovery is on its way.

Tinubu said while his administration may not have all the answers, it would not be blamed for not trying.

His words; “Let’s look at what we’re doing right and what we’re doing wrong to bring life back to the economy. Like I said, many times, the people of this country are only the people who we have to please. And we are very much concerned from students to mothers and fathers, farmers, the traders and realising that everyone of us will have to fetch water from the same well. ⁣

“We’re looking for additional efforts that’s might help the downtrodden Nigerians and we will provide that hope and reassurance that economic recovery is on its way. ⁣

“We are not saying that we have all the answers. But we will not be blamed for not trying. We assure Nigerians that we will do our best to get our marshall plan in place and fashion out the best economic future for this country.”

The meeting had some state governors and captains of industries in attendance, including, Alison Dangote, AbsuSamad Rabiu, Tony Elumelu, Anambra Governor, Prof Charles Soludo, and his Ogun State counterpart, Dapo Abiodun, among others.
